As part of a recent scheme launched by the Indian embassy in Juba, a number of South Sudanese students have received scholarships to study abroad in India.
Aside from the stipends already offered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), students in South Sudan have recently benefited from the the Study in Indian Program (SIP). The SIP offers grants of between 50% and 100% for students beginning their university studies.
This academic year, more than 36 students were awarded special scholarships from top Indian universities to study Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Law Faculty and Business Administration courses
In particular, many female students also received funding under the SIP scheme.
The Indian Ambassador to South Sudan, S.D Moorthy, announced the SIP last year as having the potential to benefit those secondary school students with good grades in their final exams.
