Governor Futuyo has given cattle keepers seven days to leave Western Equatoria State.

The Governor of Western Equatoria State, Hon. Lt. Gen. Alfred Futuyo Karaba, has given cattle keepers ultimate of one week as of today, June 8, 2023, for the cattle keepers to leave Western Equatoria State, particularly Greater Mundri Counties.

This comes after Governor Futuyo met with leaders of both cattle keepers and farmers in the area who were at odds.

Governor Futuyo stated that this is what can bring peace to the communities.

"Cattle keepers must leave, and this should happen within 7 days, and I am going to stay here until all of you cattle keepers are gone, if you don't want, I will use force, we don't reject your presence, but cattles are our problem."

Governor Futuyo has advised the communities of Greater Mundri not to take law into their own hand when there is misunderstanding.

"For you the communities, do not take the law into your own hands; if there is any misunderstanding, the government will handle it," Governor Futuyo advises.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Cattle Keepers, Deng Mawut, welcomed the decision and confirmed that they will leave for their village and not return to Mundri.

Deng stated that the first team has crossed the border and that the last team is on their way.

Governor Futuyo is currently in Kotobi Payam, Mundri West, addressing a dispute between cattle keepers and farmers in the area. The Governor's order comes after communities in Greater Mundri complained about cattle destroying their farms.

Western Equatoria State's communities rely primarily on agricultural products for a living.
