Juba

In a series of republican decrees released this evening, President Kiir has made a series of personnel changes amongst the top ranks of the South Sudanese government.

General Akol Khor Kuch remains National Security Director, but has also been promoted to the rank of 1st Lieutenant General.

General Malek Ruban Riak has been dismissed as Deputy Minister of Defence and Veterans' Affairs, and appointed Ambassador to Eritrea.

General Chol Thon Balok has been appointed Deputy Minister of Defence and Veterans' Affairs.

General Thomas Duoth Guet has been dismissed as Director General of the General Intelligence Bureau, and appointed ambassador to Kuwait.
