In a letter seen by the South Sudan Friendship Press this afternoon, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has extended its sympathies to the veteran Anyanya leader following his wife’s death.
Mama Amna Lagu passed away yesterday afternoon following a battle with COVID-19. In a statement released by the Lagu family, it was reported that Mama Amna’s untimely death occurred with her family by her side.
The Ministry of Agriculture have said they hope that ‘the Almighty God may hold the family firm during this moment of sorrow’.
‘Amuna, as she was known in South Sudan, was one of the torch bearers of General Lagu’s iconic legacy. She was part of our struggle for freedom. She was loved as a mother and adored by our greater community as one of the magnets for our social cohesion’, wrote her family yesterday.
Lt Gen. Joseph Lagu has made a recovery from the disease, and is reported to be in better health.
