Condolences extended following death of Hon. Mary Kiden Kimbo

In an announcement by her family, it was revealed that veteran politician and state legislature member Mary Kiden Kimbo died in the early hours of yesterday morning in Nairoibi Hospital, Kenya.


Hon. Mary Kiden served as South Sudan's first Minister of Gender in the semi-autonomous government from 2009-2013. From then until her death, she sat in the the Transitional National Legislative Assembly as representative for Constituency no.10 in Kajo-Keji County of Yei River state.

A number of key figures have come forward to extend their condolences to Hon. Kiden's family, including the Governor of Central Equatoria Emmanuel Adil Anthony.


'On behalf of the state government, the people of Central Equatoria state and on my own behalf,I would like to offer my heartfelt message of comfort to her entire family colleagues in the yet to be reconstituted transitional national legislative Assembly and all South Sudanese whom the late has served with her selfless heart while discharging her assigned responsibilities during the struggle and after the attainment of south Sudan independence'.


Anthony described the late politician as 'industrious, devoted, generous, cheerful and above all a stateswoman with enormous influence as well as wise counsel and guidance.'
